Overview
Abel sends text messages only to customers who booked with a business, on its booking page or by phone. Every message names the business that sent it and ends with an opt-out line. The messages below are rendered from the same templates the app sends from, not copied, with Ada Studio as the sample business and a sample date and time.
Who sends
Each business texts from its own number, the same number Abel answers its calls on. A message comes from the business the customer booked with, not from Abel.
Embedded link sample
Some appointment confirmations include an Abel account link. The link is on Abel’s own domain, is not shortened, and opens the customer account flow. This interactive sample is rendered by the same template the app sends:

Keywords
A customer can reply to any message with a keyword. Matching ignores case, spacing and punctuation, so “Stop.” and “ STOP ” both count. Each gets one reply, from the business:
Opt out
STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, REVOKE, OPTOUT
Ada Studio: You have been unsubscribed and will not receive further messages. Reply START to resubscribe.
Opt back in
START, UNSTOP, YES, OPTIN
Ada Studio: You are resubscribed and will receive messages again. Reply STOP to unsubscribe.
Help
HELP, INFO
Ada Studio: Reply STOP to unsubscribe. Message and data rates may apply. For help, contact the business directly.
How opt-out is honoured
- STOP is handled before anything else is done with an inbound message. It never goes through a model or a queue.
- It is absolute for that business: confirmations and reminders stop too, not only follow-ups.
- It is recorded on the customer's contact record with that business, so it holds for every later appointment.
- START clears it. HELP gets the help reply and changes nothing.
- If Abel cannot confirm a number's status, it does not send.
- Every inbound and outbound text is logged with the business.
