Overview
Abel answers the business’s phone. When a caller books, Abel confirms the number to reach them on, tells them a confirmation will arrive by text, and sends it after the call.
How the call goes
- The caller says what they need.
- Abel confirms their name and the number to reach them on. Caller ID is the default; the caller can give a different number.
- Right after the number is settled, Abel says once that it will text a confirmation and that message and data rates may apply.
- Abel collects the rest: the address, the details of the job, a time.
- Abel says the confirmation text is on its way and offers to send it by email as well.
- After the call, one confirmation text goes to the number from step 2.
The disclosure
Abel is a voice agent. It speaks naturally rather than reading a script, so it is told to give the disclosure once, in its own words, and is given this example:
The instructions it follows, quoted from the agent’s configuration. The first is step one of the call script. The second is a per-call rule, applied even when a business has written its own script.
These lines are read from the same module the agent is configured from, so this page cannot fall out of date.
Wording
Abel says “text message” to callers. The rule it is given:
What is sent
After the call, the caller receives this confirmation, here with Ada Studio as the sample business:
Your appointment with Ada Studio has been confirmed for 2026-10-06 at 2:30 PM. If you need to make changes, please call +15551234567. Reply STOP to opt out.
A reminder follows the day before the appointment and another about an hour before. Every message is listed in Text messages and opt-out.
Opting out
Reply STOP to any message. The business stops texting that number straight away, confirmations and reminders included. Reply START to opt back in, or HELP for help. How that is handled is in How opt-out is honoured.
